Wednesday

I normally have soccer and basketball games to cover on Wednesday and Friday nights. Then I looked at the schedule and...no games tonight. So, what do I do on a Wednesday?
  1. go to the pilates class at the jr high down the street
  2. go to the grocery store
  3. catch up on all my shows on hulu
  4. do more unpacking
  5. laundry
  6. pay bills
  7. watch pride and prejudice (Keira Knightley version)
  8. watch tv
  9. play on facebook
  10. ?
I did #'s 2, 4, and 9. Anybody got ideas of what else I should do in a new town?

more BSG

As ya’ll know I am a fan of Battlestar Galactica. Friday was the beginning of season 4.5 and I was able to go to the Frak Party that Matt+Nat hosted on Saturday. A big thanks to Matt+Nat for hosting these fun parties, you guys are awesome!
There were three ladies who sat in front of me during the rebroadcast. They all are in their 60’s and happen to be at the hotel for the Jane Austen tea party, but also are BSG fans. I always ask BSG fans what they do for a living, where they are from, etc… because I think it is fun to know that we are diverse, are all ages and come from all walks of life.

sportsmanship

I recently moved to Santa Maria, CA and now working at Righetti High School. On my second day of work I was covering a JV wrestling tournament. One of the boys from the Righetti team came up to me to say what I thought he was describing his injury so I could fix it. But after really listening to what he was saying he was describing what he did to his recent opponent. After the Righetti wrestler pointed out his opponent it was obvious the other boy was injured.
I was so impressed that this wrestler actually had the sportsmanship to admit what he had done. After working as an Athletic Trainer for 10 years I have noticed that high school kids have a downward slide in sportsmanship. So either the coach is doing a good job of coaching or his parents are doing a good job of parenting.

What to do on New Years day?

I decided to go to a movie. After looking at the selection I was drawn to Twilight for the third time. What does this say about me...
1- Not that many good movies were released in Nov/Dec 2008, or
2- I have bad taste in movies, or
3- I am more addicted to the Twilight series than I thought I was and my subconscious automatically picked what I really wanted to see.
However, the theatre was packed (granted it was mostly teenage girls), so I might not be the only one with the above 3 problems. :)
