Steel

So, one more week and the baby is going to show up. For anyone who has been pregnant you can sympathize with my Sister-in-law Sara. Everyone is going to be in Idaho except me, I will be here in Santa Maria, but I will be there at the end of May to play with Caimon and the new baby!

State of Play

I hadn't been to the movies in a while so I decided to go see State of Play. During a newscaster montage (did I spell that right?) who do I see. . ., but Denae! As TAMN would say, she is a e-BFF. I almost yelled out "I KNOW HER", but for some reason I had control of myself. I usually do yell out things like that. So everyone go see State of Play, it was good!

Solvang

At the gym (Ok, so I don’t get up at 6am like my cousin Lisa, but I will beat my brother Corey up Bear’s Hump @ Waterton this summer!) they have a pile of magazines I read from. There is this great article in Good Housekeeping April 2009 called “What Thin Women Know” by Valerie Frankel on page 117. My favorite advice was #6 “Socialize on your feet Thin people make plans to ‘do something.’ Fat-thinkers make plans ‘for dinner.’”

With that in mind I have been dying to go to Solvang to check it out. Solvang is a town about 30 minutes from Santa Maria. It was settled by some Danish settlers at the last turn of the century. The buildings all are from the Danish style; the main square is made to look like a village in Denmark. I really wanted to go since half my ancestors are from northern Denmark. Last week one day, all the games and practices were cancelled because of the rain. So I went down to Solvang, however it was kinda late and almost all the businesses were closed. I will need to go back when the town is more alive. But I still took some pictures.

I didn't know our Congressman's office was in Solvang!

This is the drive to Solvang, kinda pretty :)

The bakery where I got this really yummy Danish chocolate thingy.

Baseball

Here are some more photos of baseball. Hopefully I am getting better at taking pictures. Remember this is what I see as the the Athletic Trainer.

Have to have a team five before the inning starts.

Before the varsity baseball inning starts, heading to their positions.

Harlem Wizards

The booster club had the Harlem Wizards come to town for a fundraiser. They asked me to take care of the Wizards before the game and they game me an official ball as payment. They are funny and just as good as the Globetrotters. If the Harlem Wizards come to your town be sure to watch them!

Spring Sports

The spring sports have started. Here are some pictures from my vantage point.

This is the softball dugout, they won all their games this week!

This is the freshman baseball game on Tuesday. They lost 10-8.

JV baseball Coach and catcher talking to the pitcher

JV dugout, this picture does not depict the fact the these guys are a bunch of jokesters!

Yes, this is the sad golf cart that I use to take water, etc, out to all the games. It is always on the verge of dying. One of the maintenance guys helped me change the right rear tire a couple of weeks ago. This is the track team shed I get to keep the golf cart in. The shed door is always breaking too. The school needs to get some of that Obama stimulus money to upgrade the school!
