KA
While I was in Vegas for the NATA Conference (Monday June 24th) I went to the KA theatre for a workshop where we did rescue training on unstable surfaces. Five days later there was an accident where one of the performers died. While we were doing the training, the head physio for KA pointed to a spot where there was no safety net or mat. From the description of what happened, it sounds like she landed in that spot. My heart goes out to the rescue team that tried to save her, that would have been very hard.
Here is the press release from Cirque:
Las Vegas (June 30, 2013) – The entire Cirque du Soleil family is deeply saddened by the accidental death of Sarah (Sassoon) Guyard, artist on the production KÀ, that happened on Saturday, June 29th, in Las Vegas. The artist’s immediate family has been informed of the accident.
Our thoughts are with her family and the entire Cirque du Soleil family.
“I am heartbroken. I wish to extend my sincerest sympathies to the family. We are all completely devastated with this news. Sassoon was an artist with the original cast of KÀ since 2006 and has been an integral part of our Cirque du Soleil tight family. We are reminded, with great humility and respect, how extraordinary our artists are each and every night. Our focus now is to support each other as a family. “ said Cirque du Soleil Founder, Guy Laliberté.
We have been working with the appropriate authorities and have offered our full cooperation.
Performances of KÀ will be cancelled until further notice.
Cirque du Soleil kindly asks the media representatives to respect our time of mourning as a Company.

new HG trailer
When I was writing my Master's thesis I would listen to/watch the Bourne Identity movie in the background. This time around (PhD) I have been listening/watching the Hunger Games. Dave downloaded the books on the iPad and I read all three very fast! The second trailer for the second movie came out this week. I can't wait until November to watch it!
Pioneer Day Concert
Last Friday I went with one of my best friends (Krystal, we have known each other since jr high) to the Pioneer Day Concert by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir (Mo Tab for short) with guest performers Lindsey Stirling (she's popular on YouTube) and Nathan Pacheo (beautiful voice). They have the concert on mormonchannel.org, go check it out! My favorite song is Who will buy? from Oliver!
Uncle Lisle
My Grandpa Jensen's twin brother, Uncle Lisle, died two weeks ago and I went with my Mom and Dad to his funeral last week. Afterward we had lunch with my Mom's brother and sister and their spouses. This December Grandpa and Uncle Lisle would have been 94 years old.
My first Christmas. Grandpa was holding me and Aunt Sally was feeding me whipped cream.
All the grandkids and Grandpa, in front of my Uncle Phil's house for my cousin Chris' mission farewell.
At the SLC airport when I left on mission with Grandpa and Afton.
All the grandkids and Grandpa, at Uncle Geoff's house for my cousin Jordan's baby blessing.
PAMA 2013
I rented a car and drove to Snowmass Village, CO this past weekend to speak at the Performing Arts Medicine Association Symposium. I did a survey about Athletic Trainers in the Performing Arts last year and that is what my presentation was about. It was only 15 minutes long, but it was nice to share this info with everyone finally.
The rental company gave me a Kia Soul. I haven't started to look for a car to buy yet because Dave is sooooo tall that I don't know if he will fit into most cars. But I really liked this Kia Soul and it was fun to drive.

Provo Freedom Festival Grand Parade
We went to the parade today. It's been years since I was able to go, I missed this so much!

Crash
I was in Las Vegas for the NATA Conference last week, but because I went to Boise the few days before, I had to fly from Boise to Las Vegas. I was suppose to drive down with my friend Becky who is the Athletic Trainer for American Fork High School. When I got to the hotel room I called Becky to tell her what room we were in and she said she wasn't coming because she was in a car accident in Nephi.
She was drifting into the median and over corrected and the car flipped three times. Becky had some bruises on her shoulder, but feeling good. You see the passenger side, yep I would have been right there.
Good thing I flew down!

Boise
Corey and Sara finalized the short sale on their house and they had to quickly find a new place to live, pack, and move. So I went up to Boise with my parents to help take care of the kids, aka, get them out of the way. I hadn't seen them since my wedding weekend, so I was really excited to see the kiddos.
This is a picture we sent to Uncle Dave to tell him we missed him *HUG*

Summer in Provo-Beginning
I am in Provo for the Summer. I was going to go nuts if I had to skip sunshine and 100 degree weather again! And the Independence and Pioneer day celebrations! I've only been here a couple of days and I already experienced a couple of things that had forgot I missed.
Toilet seat covers in public restrooms. Yep, I miss this.
Drinking fountains! Free water everywhere, I also missed this.
More water pressure. It takes me half the time to have a shower. I missed this too!
